About Us

The Anthony Martin Foundation is a private, family-owned memorial foundation dedicated to preserving the life of Tony Martin; a native of Bishop’s Falls, Newfoundland Canada.

We are based both in Canada and the Philippines.

Funding for the AMF comes from the surviving members of the Martin Family. We do not maintain physical offices nor do we employ a staff. Our foundation relies on volunteers and donations. We are not currently registered as a charitable institution although we are working towards that goal. If you would like to donate, that would be most welcome.

Medical Missions

The AMF partners with local medical missions to send children with cleft palate for operations. This child, Riadelyn, from Hinundayan, Southern Leyte is the child of poor parents. The AMF sent financial assistance to the family that allowed them to send Riadelyn for an operation in Maasin, Southern Leyte.

Send us an email info@anthonymartin.org to learn how to help other children get operations in Southern Leyte - or you can visit Operation Smile Philippines to help!

Scholarships

The AMF extends scholarships to selected individuals from impoverished regions of the Philippines who have demonstrated the desire to get an education and leave poverty behind. Seen here is Maria Tonnette D. Cabanero, from Hinunangan, Southern Leyte - attending Southern Leyte State University's Agricultural Program.

It costs CAD $ 150.00 per month to send 1 person to college in Southern Leyte. That amount covers food, transportation, and rent.

Save the Philippines! The Credit Union Way!

Reminiscent of the Scarboro Missions 1960s rallying cry, "Saving Souls the Credit Union Way!", the AMF encourages Filipinos, local or foreign based, to invest in Cooperatives in the Philippines by opening an account, or simply donating materials such as office equipment, supplies or even building materials to help struggling Credit Unions with limited financial resources.

Virtual Missions

Scarboro Missions ended in 2018 - but it's spirit shouldn't end there.

The AMF is introducing "Virtual Missions" - an online guidebook on how to reach the poor in the Philippines virtually - it's where 21st century techonology meets the allure of 20th Century foreign missions. Now you can change someone's life halfway around the world using the power of the internet.

The AMF has the experience and the tools to guide you to become a "Virtual Missionary" without leaving the comfort of your home!.

Museum

The AMF is planning to build 2 museums - one @ Tony Martin's home in Cebu City, and a proposed final resting place in Hinundayan, Southern Leyte.

Tony Martin's remains are at a crowded cemetery in Cebu City, Philippines. A busy cemetery where visitors trample over and erect instrusive structures over other graves in total disregard for other people's concerns. This being a crowded city, space is usually not respected. With your donations, we can remove Tony Martin's remains from this area and build him a proper resting place.

The proposed Memorial building in Hinundayan, Southern Leyte will also house a small museum where residents and visitors of the town will get a chance to look back into the past, when a group of Canadian Scarboro Missionaries landed in the area in 1955. It will detail the contributions made by these missionaries and highlight their efforts to bring the people of Southern Leyte out of poverty. This memorial building will also preserve the contributions made by the people of Canada, who through their generosity, financed the construction of churches, hospitals, and other buildings in this region of the Philippines.
